The Treasure Within

This method has a very scientific approach to entering meditation. It systematically takes the listener from using the mind, to inwardly observing the mind and, from there, to simply being: present, relaxed and aware.

Newcomers to the world of meditation, and all who find their minds are very busy, will find it especially helpful. Because the mind is given some work to do in the first two stages (counting the breath), it is more likely to quieten down in the third and fourth stages.

It provides a good example of Osho’s saying that the mind is not intrinsically an enemy of meditation. It can be used to take us beyond itself, to the state known in the Zen tradition as “no-mind.” There, we are simply awareness…pure consciousness.
